Arson arrest made 2 years after Electra Fire in Amador County

AMADOR COUNTY, Calif. –
A man was arrested on Thursday (8/29/24), accused of starting a fire that burned more than 4,000 acres across two counties two years ago, Cal Fire said.
Officers arrested 39-year-old Danny Killion in Yuba City on suspicion of starting the Electra Fire on July 4, 2022.
The Electra Fire started in Amador County and spread to Calaveras County, burning 4,470 acres in total, Cal Fire said.
The fire sparked panic for a number of families who were recreating at North Fork Mokelumne River. One family (said) had to take shelter for hours, trapped with no exit out of the area.
More than two years later, Killion was booked into the Amador County Jail on felony charges for arson of a structure, recklessly causing a fire and two counts of child abuse, Cal Fire said.
Officials have not specified how he started the fire.
