Bob died on December 21, 2019. He was born January 8, 1946, in Jordan, MT. Bob earned money for school as a smokejumper during the 1967 season and in 1969 graduated from Carroll College in Helena, MT, with a degree in medical technology. After a stint in the Navy, he moved with his wife, Judyth, to Great Falls, MT. They had a daughter, Brenda, but later divorced.

Bob worked in the medical lab at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls for more than four decades, rising in the ranks and training countless other technicians.

Bob was a kind of Renaissance man. He was a voracious reader who was also an accomplished amateur nature photographer. He roasted his own coffee beans, raised his own tomatoes and other garden vegetables, and was also a practiced birdwatcher, woodworker, and skeet-shooter.
