Clarence DeWayne “Ty” Teichert (Idaho City ’55) (Idaho City 1955)

Ty was born January 18, 1935, in Wray, CO, to Otto and Ethel Teichert. As a child, he moved with his family to Middleton, ID. He graduated from Middleton High School.
He earned a master’s degree from the College of Idaho and proceeded to teach in Caldwell, ID, for the next two decades. He spent each summer in between working as a smokejumper out of Idaho City and Boise. Clarence jumped at Idaho City 1955-69 and at Boise 1970-76.
Ty married Phyllis Rae Black on February 2, 1956, in Middleton, where they raised their three children.
Ty’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a member of the LDS Church.
He died in Middleton at age 53 on April 12, 1988.
