Brian died September 20, 2016, at his home in LaConner, WA. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1957 with a degree in Forestry and later graduated with a degree in Chemistry. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers and as a chemist for private industry.

Brian later bought the Titan Co. of Seattle and retired in 2015. After retirement he consulted and volunteered in various environmental programs.
