Lou died July 17, 1984, in San Rafael, California, after a long illness with Multiple Sclerosis.

He was born in Holland and came to California in 1953 and graduated with a forestry degree from Humboldt State University.

Lou jumped at Cave Junction 1966-71 and also worked with the USFS as a forest engineer.
