Robert died December 16, 2009. He was born in Redding on January 26, 1943 and graduated from Red Bluff High School. Bob grew up on his parent’s ranch in Manton working hard threshing grain and helping with registered angus cattle. He was into rodeo and was one of the best at saddle bronc riding.
Bob lived in Covelo, California, and was involved in developing early helicopter logging in the area. He returned to work with the Forest Service in 1978, started Covelo’s first rodeo, and put together the 56-mile “Rough and Ready” Wagon and Mule Pack Trip. Bob was the grand marshal at the Laytonville Rodeo in 2004.
He retired from the Forest Service in 2005 after 29 years. Most of his four years in retirement were spent fighting ALS. He jumped at Redding during the 1964 season.
