Lorin George LaFoe ( Missoula 1951 )

Lorin of Chandler, AZ, passed away at age 87 on July 14, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 8, 1930, in Seattle WA and moved to Moscow, Idaho, when he was 10 years old, where he grew up. He was active in sports, especially track in which he excelled, and entered the University of Idaho (U of I) on a track scholarship.
He graduated from U of Idaho with a BS in Bacteriology in 1953 and was drafted into the US Army and served in the Korean War. Lorin then returned to the U of Idaho where he earned a Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry. He met his wife, Marilyn (Gulley), there and they were married on June 27, 1957, in her home town, Richland, WA. They settled in Freeport, Texas, where he started his industry career at Dow Chemical. Over the next 40 years, he worked in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, which took him to many countries and moved the family to several different states.
He retired from Abbott Labs in 1997 and he and Marilyn moved to Chandler, AZ. In retirement, he was a volunteer at the ASU date palm farm, was a member of the American Chemical Society and the California Rare Fruit Growers Assn. Lorin jumped at Missoula during the 1951 season.
