Help Needed at National Smokejmper Center

by Doug Houston (RAC-73) |

The National Smokejumper Center in West Yellowstone, is meeting/greeting manyvisitors at their new site. The Madison Guard Station log building has been moved to the new site which is right behind the Chamber of Commerce building, Wolf/Grizzly Bear building, and just a couple of hundred yards away from the west entrance to the park. It is a great site and is really picking up interest from walk-ins, as well as groups, especially Elderhostel people.

The smokejumper programs are being put on my volunteers, mainly from those who used to be active smokejumpers and are willing to share experiences and knowledge about the smokejumper program. Barry Hicks (MSO-64) is the head of this project and is in need of volunteers for the first three weeks of August. It takes 2-3 volunteers per week to keep up with the traffic, so if you have the interest and time, please call Barry, (406) 531-6912. Barry would be glad to talk to you and explain the program.
