Subject: Bozeman Watch Company Auctions SmokeJumper Chronograph for National Smokejumper Association Fundraiser

September 8, 2006

As of September 02, 2006 valiant crews of smokejumpers, city and county firefighters, volunteers and community members were battling over 230 new fires around the country. Over 21,200 personnel have been called into the service of fighting 80,072 fires since the first of the year, with a total of 7,875,699 acres burned across the country. Brave men and women are risking their all to preserve life, property and our national forests, in a year that has already seen 1.6 million more acres lost than in 2000, and over 2.5 million more than has been lost over the average of the last ten years! Closer to home, Bozeman has been enveloped in an acrid fog, our generally pristine air polluted by the nearby Derby Mountain Fire, Doug Houston, president of the National Smokejumper Association led a crew into action against the Red Eagle Fire in Glacier National Park, and my childhood home was recently evacuated before the Jackson Canyon Fire as it bore down on Casper, Wyoming. Clearly, fire danger is intense across much of the country this year, with the Rocky Mountain region of the American West once again bearing the brunt of the destruction.

We at the Bozeman Watch Company are proud to be able to help the efforts of the smokejumpers around the country, and have donated upwards of US$2,000 to the NSA through sales of our SmokeJumper Chronograph – the official timepiece of the Missoula-based National Smokejumper Association. Now, however, is the time to double our efforts and really make a lasting, positive contribution to these courageous airborne firefighters, and to do this, we all need your help.

Recently, the Bozeman Watch Company, the National Smokejumper Association, and the 23rd Governor of the State of Montana, Brian Schweitzer, teamed up to present the "Governor's Edition"
SmokeJumper Chronograph to the world. Worn by Governor Schweitzer, SmokeJumper #23 has been offered to the National Smokejumper Association as a fundraising piece, the focal point of a unique and ambitious auction that we hope raises not only considerable monies for the NSA, but increases awareness of their efforts and furthers their cause for years to come.

Best,

I am so pleased to be working with the Bozeman Watch Company on this terrific benefit for the National Smokejumper Association. Smokejumpers risk their lives each time they climb into an airplane and head to the fire lines. They do so with a full understanding of the risks, but their willingness to serve others and the hope of saving lives overrides their concern for personal safety. I am forever grateful for the work these brave men and women do and am proud to be a part of this auction.

- Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer
