NSA Designing Plaque For KIA Jumpers

by Carl Gidlund |

Thirty smokejumpers have been killed in the line of duty. You may view the list on this Website by clicking on "History," then on "Memorial Page." We are attempting to learn as much as we can about each of them for a booklet that we will give to each active base and several museums. Those booklets will accompany plaques that list the jumpers' names, their bases, the dates of their deaths and the fires on which they were killed. If you have information about any of the jumpers on the list, please send the info to Carl Gidlund at gidlund1@earthlink.net. If you'd care to contribute towards the plaques (they are $300 each, and we're fabricating 13) you may send your donation to NSA Treasurer Dean Longanecker, P.O. Box 643, Waterville, WA 98858. Make the check out to "National Smokejumper Association," and note that it's for "Memorial Plaques." Thanks.
